History
Kevin Cunningham, Owner
Our business began in 1992 and the original focus was on personal training and martial arts. Kevin Cunningham started the business while he was in graduate school, and thought it would simply finance his education. Today the facility has grown considerably and offers so much more than it did at its inception. Kevin has surrounded himself with a staff of eight outstanding individuals who help train, instruct and teach classes. Most of them are pursuing graduate studies in relevant disciplines and hold black belts in one or more arts. All but one has been associated with KC’s for more than five years. KC’s does well over one hundred personal training appointments per week and more than two hundred individuals come down and take classes or use the exercise equipment weekly. Folks are attracted to the facility for many reasons and visitors are encouraged to visit the testimonial section on this website.

What makes us different from many other gyms? Well, we don’t have all the bells and whistles. It is a neighborhood gym and destination site as well. Many simply walk or drive five minutes to get here, while some travel well over an hour for specialized instruction. We occupy two floors of the First Presbyterian Church building on Symphony Circle. The vaulted twenty-foot ceilings of this E.B Green building provide an openness unmatched in most conventional exercise settings. Members are not squeezed into the gym. There is little makeup, and no intimidating posturing infusing the place. Yes, very ordinary folks are exercising and training hard. It is social and friendly but not a social club. The trainers are more like coaches and the martial arts philosophy seems to blend into other aspects of the facility. New members are welcome as long as they don’t spend too much time in front of the mirrors.

The benefits I received from this program were greater than anything that I could have imagined... any athlete would greatly benefit from this training program.”

As a exercise physiologist and former college football player, I can definitely say that this is a conditioning program that will yield powerful results for competitive athletes, and anyone else for that matter, who wishes to improve their fitness level.”
